Blackpool also boasts three Victorian piers, the most famous of which is North Pier, which was built in 1862. It retains much of its old nostalgic character with a large wooden deck, traditional theatre and a beautiful two-storey carousel.

Each year, from late August until early November, Blackpool’s iconic Promenade lights up the night skies as millions of neon and electric lights are switched on for the Illuminations. The tradition started with the royal family’s first visit to Blackpool in 1912 and today this sparkling spectacle attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.
